Devlog 2: I'm doing the things!

I've been spending most of my night hunkered down over some messy sketches of the Null itself, specifically how it actually moves and grows.

I started fleshing out Minus a bit more too. Since he's part of the Null Hierarchy, he's got this internal struggle going on that's literally physical. I'm picturing his left arm as being almost entirely overwritten by that matte black goop, with shards sticking out like glass. It's basically a weapon, but it's also eating him. He uses it to "interface" with the environment, which is just a fancy way of saying he corrupts things to make them do what he wants.

The dynamic between the factions is starting to get more complicated in my head. I spent a lot of time thinking about the ECO group today. If they're using this green Hyasynth stuff to fight the Null, it shouldn't just be "good magic vines." It's probably just as dangerous in its own way, like an aggressive antivirus program that doesn't care if it deletes the user along with the virus. I want to avoid that trope where one side is clearly the hero. Everyone in FRAGMENT is just trying to not get deleted, and they're all willing to do some pretty shady stuff to make sure their version of the "save file" is the one that survives.

Still a lot of work to do on the actual geography of the wasteland. I'm playing around with the idea of "Sector 0," which is where the original crash happened. Everything there is supposedly frozen in a mid-error state, like buildings half-merged with the ground. It sounds like a nightmare to draw, but it would look sick on screen if I ever get this to an animation stage. For now, it's just more scribbles in my notebook. Catch you guys in the next one.
