Devlog 4: I am currently unable to do the things.

I've been staring at my notes for hours, and I've hit a bit of a wall. It's one of those mornings where the coffee isn't kicking in and the ideas feel like they're lagging. I don't want to force anything new into the mix today—no new characters or factions—because I really need to make sure the foundation I've already built is solid. I'm looking back at everything I've established about the Null, and it's a lot to keep straight. I've got the black goop and white shards of the Standard Null that Minus is dealing with, but then there's the refined stuff the Mercs use, like Onyx’s compacted "hardened shadow" armor and Spark’s yellow kinetic crystals . It’s a delicate balance. If I lean too hard into the "magic" side of the Null, I lose that "glitch-tech" groundedness I’m aiming for. The continuity is the trickiest part. I have to remember that even though the Null-Bonded like Nocturne see the Null as "evolu...

Devlog 3: Time to do more things...

I'm finally getting into a nice morning release rhythm with these, having them go live at 8:30 AM while I'm actually waking up and staring at my coffee. It's way better than my usual strategy of hitting "publish" at three in the morning when my brain is basically mush. I've been thinking a lot about the actual "feel" of the world lately. I don't want it to just be another empty wasteland where characters walk through sand for twenty minutes. In FRAGMENT, the environment is actively trying to process itself. I'm calling it the Defragmentation Effect. Since the world is basically a crashing program, you'll have these areas where the ground just... stops. Like, the textures haven't loaded, so it's just a flat, matte grey void that's dangerous to step on because there's no "floor" logic there. I also spent some time sketching out the visual difference between the factions' tech. ANCHOR is all about that clean, s...

Devlog 2: I'm doing the things!

I've been spending most of my night hunkered down over some messy sketches of the Null itself, specifically how it actually moves and grows. I started fleshing out Minus a bit more too. Since he's part of the Null Hierarchy, he's got this internal struggle going on that's literally physical. I'm picturing his left arm as being almost entirely overwritten by that matte black goop, with shards sticking out like glass. It's basically a weapon, but it's also eating him. He uses it to "interface" with the environment, which is just a fancy way of saying he corrupts things to make them do what he wants. The dynamic between the factions is starting to get more complicated in my head. I spent a lot of time thinking about the ECO group today. If they're using this green Hyasynth stuff to fight the Null, it shouldn't just be "good magic vines." It's probably just as dangerous in its own way, like an aggressive antivirus program that doe...

Devlog 1: I have an idea (wow, first one!)

So, I've been sitting on this idea for a while now. It's called FRAGMENT. I'm still just pieceing the basics together, but I figured I'd start a little devlog here on Blogger to keep track of the world-building as I go. It's basically a post-collapse wasteland, but not the usual desert and leather jacket kind. This place is more like a giant, crashing computer program that's turned physical . The main thing you gotta know about is the Null. It's this nasty black goop filled with these sharp, white crystalline shards . It's everywhere. It's like a digital parasite that doesn't just break things, it overwrites them . If it touches a piece of metal or a person, it starts rewriting their code into something glitched out and messy . There's this guy I'm working on named Minus. He's one of the big shots in the Null Hierarchy, which is basically the group of people who've embraced the infection instead of fighting it . Minus is interesti...
